Seattle’s Cro-Magnon Pictures Presents A Jazzman’s Jazzman

27 Aug

This is a great posting I found on the Sun Break website posted by Seattle actor, musician, singer, and filmmaker Ben Harris.

CRO-MAGNON PICTURES has written in to let everyone know about the premiere of their feature film, A Jazzman’s Jazzman: The Gerry Carruthers Story. Look for it at The Fremont Abbey (4272 Fremont Ave N) on Friday, September 10, 2010. Screenings are at 7 and 9:30 p.m., with live music in between.

About the film…

A Jazzman’s Jazzman is a hilarious and unique blend of mockumentary and stop-motion animation. Equal parts Spinal Tap and Ken Burns’ Jazz, it follows the life and times of fictional pianist Gerry Carruthers as he struggles for fame and recognition against all odds.

The stories of Carruthers, his friends and enemies, and the club where he became infamous are brought to vivid life by a cast of skilled Seattle actors and musicians in improvised interviews, and “dramatized” in gorgeous stop-motion animation of characters created by Eric “Two Scoops” Moore.

The film also features a fantastic original score by local musicians Birch Pereira and Tim Kennedy.

About Cro-Magnon Pictures…

Cro-Magnon Pictures is a Seattle-based independent film company formed in 2008 by writer/director/actor Benjamin Harris and writer/editor/cinematographer Paul Maupoux. Bassist Birch Pereira composed the scores of both Jazzman and the company’s first project, The Mr. Azymuth Suite. CMP’s second short, the office comedy Man Talk, was an official selection for Local Sightings 2009 at the NW Film Forum, Washington Grown Film Festival 2009, and the 2010 Port Townsend Film Festival; it also became a companion video art exhibition for the ACT Theatre production of Below the Belt, starring Judd Hirsch. Cro-Magnon Pictures is committed to producing quality shorts and feature films featuring the best of local acting talent and the highest possible production values.
